CR2 to JPG Converter

CR2 to JPG reads the JPEG the camera already saved. The file stays on this device.

🔒 Files never uploaded·⚡ No sign-up·🆓 Free — batch up to 5 files

This page turns an older Canon RAW file into a picture you can attach. This CR2 to JPG page is for the preview, not a full develop. Drop the photo on the box, read the size label, and press Download. Nothing is uploaded, and you do not need an account. The original stays on your device. You can shorten the long edge if the picture is awkward to attach. If the file has no embedded JPEG, the page says so and stops.

How to convert CR2 to JPG

  1. To convert CR2 to JPG, drop the photo on the box or use Choose RAW photos. PSDraw checks the file header, so a renamed picture is not treated as CR2. A CR2 file to JPG only starts when the header matches.
  2. Read the line that says Output, the width, the height, and camera's embedded JPEG. A CR2 to JPG label on the export card shows that width and height. There is no layer stack to hide.
  3. Press Download. The CR2 to JPEG file is written in the browser. Your original is left untouched on the device you already have open.

CR2 pictures to JPG

Email a proof before the edit

A client wants to see the frame tonight. A CR2 to JPG proof is enough when the client only needs to see the frame. CR2 pictures to JPG give you the camera preview without waiting on an upload. Send the picture, and keep the CR2 for the real edit later.

A whole card of photos

Several CR2 pictures to JPG can share one ZIP. Free use converts up to five files. A 24-hour pass is $2.99 and Pro is $19 once, with no subscription, when you need up to fifty. The CR2 format to JPG work still happens on your device.

Other camera files

This page is the older Canon RAW only. Newer Canon CR3 files belong on their own page, Nikon on NEF, Sony on ARW, and Adobe DNG on its own page. Use the CR2 format to JPG label here to see the preview size before you download.

CR2 to JPG converter features

Header check

The box trusts the CR2 signature, not a renamed extension. A CR2 JPEG lookalike that is really a PNG is refused instead of being decoded as a photo.

Embedded preview only

Turn CR2 into JPEG and you get the camera preview, the JPEG stored for the rear screen. PSDraw does not demosaic the sensor, and it does not invent a megapixel count.

Size label

Info and the export card both show Output, then the width, the height, and the words camera's embedded JPEG. Every CR2 to JPG result uses that same label, so the limit is visible before you download.

Quality and long edge

Leave quality at 90, or lower it when the letter is already large. You can convert CR2 to JPG again after you pick a shorter long edge. A second CR2 into JPEG pass can shrink that edge. It still is not a develop.

Batch of five

Drop several CR2 photos together. Free stops at five. The page tells you the cap before it converts, and the ZIP is built in the browser.

No account

You can make a CR2 file to JPG without signing in. Closing the tab drops the photo from memory. We do not keep a copy. CR2 to JPG stays in the browser tab you already opened.

What is a CR2 file?

CR2 is the RAW package older Canon cameras wrote for many years. It is a container, closer to a TIFF than to a finished picture. The camera keeps the sensor readings inside and, very often, a JPEG it already built for the rear screen. That JPEG is a real photograph with the color the camera chose. It is smaller than a full demosaic of the same frame. A desktop editor reads the sensor data and builds a new picture. PSDraw does the smaller job: it finds the largest JPEG and exports it. It does not claim a sensor size, because the preview alone does not prove one. If a CR2 has no JPEG inside, the page says so and stops.

People search for a CR2 file format to JPG because a form refused the RAW. They need a file they can attach. The original stays for a later develop. The CR2 JPEG inside the file is what the export uses. A CR2 to JPG copy is for the errand, and the camera file remains the archive.

Embedded JPEG preview, not a full develop

The export is the camera preview, with the color the camera baked in. You do not get a new develop of the sensor data. White balance, a pulled shadow, or a lens profile from a desktop editor will not appear, because those choices were never applied to the embedded JPEG. The export card says Output, the pixel size, and camera's embedded JPEG so the limit is on the screen before you download. PSDraw does not compare that size with a sensor resolution, and it does not print a number it did not read. Some cameras store a preview that is already large. Some store a small one. Both are labeled the same way. Full-quality develop is coming later. Until then the honest output is the preview you can already see.

A second pass can shrink the long edge or change the quality. That re-encodes the preview. It still is not a demosaic. If the browser cannot allocate a very large export, the page offers a smaller download instead of a broken file. There is no layer list, because a RAW preview is a single image. The Layers tab stays hidden so it does not imply a stack that is not there.

Upload sites are a poor fit for CR2. Each frame is often tens of megabytes, and a shoot is a stack of them. You pay the transfer before you see a picture, and the file has left your machine. CR2 to JPG skips the upload that a large camera file would otherwise have to finish first. Free covers a single file and a batch of five. A day that needs fifty files is the $2.99 pass for 24 hours, or Pro at $19 once. There is no monthly plan. Online converters often charge $12.99 to $29.99 a month for the same kind of errand. You can still use a desktop editor when you need a real develop. This page is the fast local copy.

CR2 to JPG FAQ

How do I get a CR2 file format to JPG without uploading?

Drop the photo on this page. The browser finds the embedded JPEG and writes the download. The bytes are not posted to a server.

Is CR2 to JPEG here a full develop?

No. A CR2 to JPG download is the preview the camera stored. The page does not state a sensor size.

Can I do this on a phone?

Yes. Use a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari. The preview step is the same on a phone as on a laptop.

Why might the picture be smaller than the camera megapixels?

Because the file you downloaded is the preview the camera stored. This tool does not measure or claim the sensor resolution. If the CR2 has no preview, the page says so instead of inventing one.

Are my CR2 files uploaded?

No. The photo is read in the tab you already opened. We do not keep a copy after you leave.

Where do other brands go?

Nikon, Sony, Adobe DNG, and newer Canon CR3 files each have their own page. This one stays on CR2.

Use CR2 to JPG from the box above, then keep the camera file for a real develop later. Read the size label before you send the picture.
