ArtCraft on GitHub: All Crafting App Repositories

The ArtCraft code is published under the GitHub account storytold. Brandon Thomas is the author named in press coverage. A search for GitHub ArtCraft should land on that account. The PhotoCraft README says the project is independent and not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Adobe Inc.

The seven Crafting Apps are PhotoCraft for Photoshop, VectorCraft for Illustrator, FilmCraft for Premiere Pro, LightCraft for Lightroom, PdfCraft for Acrobat, EffectCraft for After Effects, and DesignCraft for InDesign. On the Oct 11, 2026 apps list, PhotoCraft and PdfCraft were early alpha. The other five were in development. FilmCraft is the one app without a browser build. The other six can run in the browser through WebAssembly. Every ArtCraft app here is a native Rust program for macOS, Windows, and Linux, and FreeBSD packages are published too. That roster is the ArtCraft set this organization is known for.

ArtCraft star counts move, so a screenshot is not live data. The Oct 11, 2026 snapshot also listed LightCraft at 9,439 stars, FilmCraft at 9,157, PdfCraft at 8,535, VectorCraft at 6,531, EffectCraft at 4,804, and DesignCraft at 2,725. CadCraft, DeckCraft, and SoundCraft had 2,108, 1,589, and 1,465 stars. PetaPixel on Oct 7, 2026 reported that Brandon Thomas used Anthropic’s Opus 5.5 to recreate seven Adobe apps in Rust. New visitors usually find ArtCraft through PhotoCraft, then notice the rest of the account.

Sort the ArtCraft GitHub table by stars when you want the most-watched repository first. The rows cover the seven apps, the main repository, the launcher, and the other projects CadCraft, DeckCraft, and SoundCraft. Columns include stars, the latest release, and the license.

You can sort by any column. On a phone the same rows become cards. Live figures come from GitHub and refresh about hourly. If that request fails, the table shows the Oct 11, 2026 snapshot and labels the date. PhotoCraft led that snapshot with 44,228 stars. The main repository was about 15,612 stars. The ArtCraft Launcher at version 0.2.0 can install every app and update it, The launcher had 749 stars on the Oct 11, 2026 snapshot. PhotoCraft GitHub is the repository for the Photoshop-style app. As of Oct 11, 2026 it showed 44,228 stars, and v0.7.0 was published on Oct 11, 2026 UTC. The web build is 11,044,166 bytes. It is the flagship ArtCraft application in this set.

The README says it is not yet a Photoshop replacement for daily professional work. The GitHub PhotoCraft feature list includes layers, masks, 16 adjustment layers, layer styles, type, vector shapes, and a brush engine. It reads and writes PSD and PSB natively, plus TIFF and OpenRaster, which it reads and writes. Paint.NET PDN3 is listed as read. SVG opens as shape layers or a placed vector Smart Object. Color covers RGB, grayscale, CMYK, and Lab at 8, 16, and 32 bits, with ICC management. The same README says generative features, 15 tools, deeper typography, and plugins are still missing. Those gaps are why ArtCraft still calls the app early alpha.

VectorCraft, LightCraft, FilmCraft, EffectCraft, and DesignCraft were in development on Oct 11, 2026, while PdfCraft was early alpha. The project’s own estimate puts VectorCraft near 65 percent ready for real work and LightCraft near 61 percent as a daily stand-in. The rest of the ArtCraft set is not equally finished. Open the ArtCraft repo you need rather than assuming one shared release. DesignCraft was smallest in that ArtCraft snapshot, at 2,725 stars.

An ArtCraft GitHub release is the right file only when the account is storytold. Each PhotoCraft release includes SHA256SUMS.txt. That file lists checksums for the installers in the same release. Compare your copy with that list before you run anything. A match means the bytes match the published ArtCraft release. A mismatch means you should stop and download again.

The PhotoCraft README describes signed Windows MSI and portable zip builds for x64, arm64, and x86, a signed and notarized universal macOS DMG, and Linux packages as AppImage, Flatpak, deb, rpm, and tar.gz. Do not assume every other app attaches the same set. Open that app’s own release. The ArtCraft Launcher at version 0.2.0 can install the apps and update them, which avoids picking files by hand. Prefer the newest ArtCraft release tag over a zip forwarded in chat.

PSDraw does not rehost installers. Follow the GitHub asset or the official download page, not a file on our server. The ArtCraft download guide walks through system choice and the same checksum habit. A renamed ArtCraft fork is not the release this checksum file belongs to. Keep the checksum beside the installer until the numbers match.

These ArtCraft programs are written in pure Rust. To build one, follow the repository README. This guide does not repeat compile commands, because a copied command goes stale when the README changes. Clone from the storytold account and use only the steps that repository documents.

Build from an ArtCraft GitHub checkout by following that README, and from nowhere else. A source build is how you review the code or produce a modified version. It is not required just to try the app. Releases exist for that. If you change the code, the license and the trademark rules both apply. You keep the license notices, and you still remove branding the project did not put under the open license. A modified ArtCraft build is yours to support.

The ArtCraft browser builds are WebAssembly. The PhotoCraft web artifact is 11,044,166 bytes, which is a useful size check if you produce your own. Ship an ArtCraft binary you built only when you can name the commit it came from. Read the ArtCraft issues before you assume a missing tool is a mistake in your compile. PhotoCraft v0.7.0 on Oct 11, 2026 UTC is the release benchmark, not a promise that main has the same bugs.

The ArtCraft GitHub license files to read first are the README and the brand file. On the repositories this fact sheet checked, you choose MIT or Apache-2.0. That pair is documented for PhotoCraft, VectorCraft, LightCraft, and the main repository.

Open the README before you treat any other repository as the same. The license covers code. It does not cover the name or the logo. The trademark exception is in PhotoCraft at docs/brand/LICENSE-brand.txt. A published modified version must remove the ArtCraft name and logo, unless the fork exists only to propose changes upstream. You may not use that name for another product name or for a domain. ArtCraft forks of the code are allowed. Rebranding is part of the terms. Apache-2.0 and MIT let you use the code in commercial work when you keep the notices those licenses require. That is a statement about the licenses, not a promise that the apps are finished. PhotoCraft v0.7.0 was still early alpha on Oct 11, 2026 UTC. Keep a copy of the ArtCraft license text with any build you redistribute. The main ArtCraft repository is one of the four with this dual license called out. Install an ArtCraft release if you do not want to compile.
